Spring 2010 Survey Results

Postby chronomeister on Wed May 05, 2010 7:29 pm

I'll get the text up tomorrow Valve-Time (21 people want more Farmville on spamm.org).

http://www.uwplatt.edu/~saym/SurveyS10.htm

And because I like to add the SPAMM library fuel to the fire: Spring Fansub Night Surveys

This text stuff brought to you by Microsoft Access, cause SQL queries are much better than paper cuts from flipping pages and didn't want/know how to use Excel that way. Anyway,

The 7.5 scattered about are yes/no responses where numbers were expected. If you recognize yours and would like to clarify, drop me a PM with your # and changes.

Whoever #8 is, you are an absolute tool.

Things that got a lower rating than Lolicon - Yaoi and J-Dramas. I hate SPAMM.

Do you intend to let people who missed the surveytime fill out surveys electronically? I have heard rumors that there were some people who wished to have their voices heard, yet missed the chance to do so at SPAMM.

It's always fun to play the "whose survey is this one?" game.
I find it disturbing that year after year, people are less offended by pedophilia than they are by gay men (who look a hell of a lot like women in most shows.) Only 3 people (#4, #12, #17) ranked animated child molestation lower than shonen-ai. SPAMM does not foster a very pro-lgbt atmosphere. Or rather, the club's okay with it as long as you're female.

Person #5 worries me. I'd be even more concerned if this person was an officer.
It looks like people want to see more police anime. Do not check the data to verify my statement.

#8 was one of only two people to correctly identify the 90s as the best decade for anime.

#8 rated English Dubs and Mecha (of all things) as a 10. I can never forgive that.

I think that the blank spots in the continuation categories need to be factored in. If it's left blank, they probably are against continuing that show. They should be counted as a low number (if not zero).

Sure. Here's the survey. Either PM responses or where you uploaded a filled out response or email me at uwplatt.edu with my name in the link below.

I lol'ed. Then I realized that Niehaus was right, and am slightly worried about what the officers will do next year.

Did #7 REALLY put 44 for Magical Girl/Boy or was that laziness in data entry?

Not much point to continuing shows from Spring to Fall anyway. The new freshmen will have no idea what is going on and the members who really wanted to watch more will inevitably download and watch it over the summer.

I am sick of fan service being automatically looked down to as "inferior" or "inherently bad", honestly its bad enough you let them DOMINATE the last mst3k with all of 2 fan service shows but now you look down on them here as well?
Honestly, we all need to look beyond our narrow minded view and put Akikan on the schedule.

I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, the continuation spots in the past have been "check if yes" selections. So I think that's why some people left them blank, pretty sure I did.

As far as shonen-ai vs. lolicon goes, I would hazard a guess that lolicon is far more likely to get troll votes than shonen-ai. And, while I would be interested in a shonen-ai if it was good, my current impression of it is also heavily intertwined with rabid fangirl types. While the existence of rabid fangirls does not mean all shonen-ai sucks, I think in the anime world it has left many with a bad impression of shonen-ai. Also, I would note that romance, while not at the bottom (or nearly as close as shonen-ai) is also one of the lower rated categories - I would consider shonen-ai to generally be a subset of romance. As such, I don't think it speaks as badly of spamm and lgbt issues as it might seem, though, it doesn't say anything great either.

Also, mt. dew > mt. dew code red
i want this. buy it for me.

Nice to see other people rated 90's anime so high =D.

As far as the whole loli thing goes, im unsure if the people who rated it highly did so just stating their preference or if they actually want a show in the genre on the schedule. There's a difference between liking the genre and wanting to watch it at public SPAMM meetings. To each their own I suppose, but I think if something loli was shown at SPAMM, those who don't like the genre would have stronger reaction than those who would dislike a different genre (like a mecha or drama or something). generally speaking or course.

Meh, it'd really doesn't seem like a big deal, overall loli got one of the lowest scores total so I don't really know why I'm talking about it anyways.

Also code red > reg mountain dew.
